oak chairs setting loose?

I llike to tighten a little old kitchen chairs, oak. All parts are sound, just released. The pins are quite loose, turn. Can Elmers wood glue to correct these, along with good subject, or what else I can do to make them more strict? I do not really want to add the screws of the joints, unless I have to

Titebond III is an excellent wood glue. It's a bit more expensive that Elmers but worth it.

I have med. - light blue carpet, white walls and furniture that is black with gold accents. How can it work?

I am moving in with my boyfriend and his living room is empty right now. It has white walls, red brick fireplace, oak trim and light to med. blue carpet. I have a nice sofa and chair that is black with gold paisley print, black wrought iron coffee table and end tables with smoked glass tops. I also have curtains that are red. When I had my place it all tied together very well, but I did not have blue anywhere. Now there is a lot of blue, and I don't know how to make it look good. I bought my furniture new and don't want to get rid of it.

We don't want to put a lot of money into decorating this room, but we don't know where to start. How can we make this work? What can we do and or buy to make it all work together?

You need to work with the blue and by adding just a little more of it, will actually take away from the carpet. If you ignore it, it just stands out more. Your black and golds are fine with the blue and since you love your sofa and chair, go with them. I would not use the red curtains though.
Repeat your gold from your sofa around the room opposite the side of where your sofa is. Maybe in some black framed pictures and if you could have a little bit of blue pulled into it or even a tad of the brick color. (But, I would not worry about the fireplace color too much).

Take a trip to an Ethan Allen store with your samples and pictures. They will be happy to help you while the market is a little slow. Tell them that you are looking for an area rug and some accessories. They are used to people going elsewhere to buy so don't worry about it. Just listen and learn.
