What is the best way to keep those extension power sockets clean?

I only have 3 double power points in my lounge so I bought a lot of those extensions with multiple sockets. I have loads of stuff plugged in, especially computer and music things, so needed plenty of sockets.

Anyway they are on the floor and gather a lot of dust. What's the safest way to keep them clean? I don't really want to wipe them over with a damp cloth in case any water gets in the holes and I blow things up.

Unplug everything before you clean the power strip.Then once clean put it in a plastic (grocery) bag and tie it shut.Or rewire it so that the strip is under an over hang so dust won't collect on it.Most important is to NOT have it on the floor(in case of flooding) ie wall mount it,or put it in a cabinet since it won't be messed with that often.
