How to Buy a Hammock

Well Made Hammocks Can Provide Enjoyment All Year Long
The sun is shining, temperature is a little on the cool side yet pleasant. Light breeze blows through lifting leaves off of trees and grass creating a swirling rain of autumn colors. It's a perfect day to kick back and relax in your hammock. But you just remembered you packed it away for next summer. Isn't that what you're supposed to do? You take down your hammock just before the harsh winter weather kicks in.
Did you know your hammock is not made just for the summer? That's right; quality made hammocks can endure the effects of weather all year long and can be enjoyed whenever you want, even in the middle of winter.
Recent advancements in textiles have resulted in manufacturers being able to design their hammocks with quality and longevity being top priorities. Traditionally hammocks have been made with rope woven from cotton. Because of the fact that cotton rots when exposed to weather for extended periods of time, hammock manufacturers have switched to tough synthetics which resist the effects of weather for a very long time. Many of these synthetic materials are not only very durable but are surprisingly soft. They also resist mold, mildew, fading and staining. Consumers no longer need to settle for high maintenance products that must be stowed away at the end of each summer.
But all of this talk about durability won't keep you warm when a cold wind blows through. Rope hammocks were designed to reach you from all sides. They were also designed to let the wind hit you from all around, keeping you cool on a hot summer day.
But in colder temperatures, a rope hammock can prove to be quite uncomfortable. And instead of dressing appropriately for the weather, the best way to cope with cold drafts is to opt for a fabric hammock instead of one made of rope. Another option would be to place a hammock-pad onto your rope hammock. Hammock-pads provide a tremendous amount of warmth without having to purchase a new hammock. You could also simply lay an old blanket on the hammock for a similar effect. During the winter, it's a good idea to put a blanket on top of you too. Or invite someone special to join you and share the warmth.
