Every time something is purchased, there is considerable waste – manufacturing, distribution and packaging have a serious and negative impact on the environment. How to get rid of musty smell of an old storage chest?

My husband had the storage box is used when he went to university in 15 years. It's been in the attic, garage, basement all these years with an old shop in it. (They have no idea why the store was therein) that wanted to use for blankets. When I opened smelled musty. Is cedar, but that did not stop the smell. How I can remove the musty smell?
