Teak Porch Swings - Style And Leisure Unite
A porch swing is bound to enhance any deck or patio, but choosing the right type is often tricky. As swings are constructed in a diverse variety of materials finding a resilient swing is a difficult quest. Fortunately, teak porch swings are a popular choice, however, due to their handcrafted appeal and long-lasting characteristics. Since teak is naturally weather resistant, even untreated teak furniture will last under the most severe weather conditions. Thus a teak porch swing suffering under winter snow leaves owners with little cause to worry.
A primary appeal of teak porch swings is their durability and sturdiness. Teak porch swings can accommodate people of various sizes and weights. Whether two lovers are enjoying a romantic swing outdoors, or a mother and her children are sharing some time together, a teak porch swing is ideal for all occasions.
Teak porch swings are also easy to assemble. The swing can be attached to a tree, porch roof or ceiling and even on a wooden frame. The ropes used to attach the teak swing are exceptionally strong and are also weather resistant. Owners do not have to worry about a teak porch swing breaking or falling, as all parts are sturdy. Some teak swings can be purchased with stands, allowing the addition of a swing to a lush garden or by the pool.
Like other teak furniture, teak porch swings are available in an assortment of designs. The backs of teak swings may be slatted, elegantly carved, curved or rounded. Teak swings are also available in a variety of wood finishes. In terms of size, teak porches are usually quite similar to one another in dimensions. While the widths of swings may vary, teak porch swings generally seat two adults comfortably. Rope size is generally 8 feet long, but upon a customer's request extenders are available for purchase.
Teak porch swings are also popular for their reliability. While swings composed of other materials, like wicker or metal, quickly deteriorate teak does not. Teakwood is naturally weather resistant to sun, rain, and snow. While most woods rot after exposure to weather elements, teak will not. A teak porch swing will look as elegant and quaint years later as it did upon its first sway.
Another reason why teakwood porch swings are highly popular is due to their low level of maintenance. Cleaning teak is simple and hassle-free. Basic soap and water can be used during the Spring to scrub away dirt and refresh all teak furniture, especially porch swings which have remained outside all Winter. Alternatively, there are a variety of teak cleaning and maintenance solvents and oils available for purchase.
A perfect complement to any teak porch swing is a teak coffee table. Since teak coffee tables are sold in many varieties, finding a match for most teak porch swings is not that difficult. A teak porch swing allows people to keep items like snacks, drinks and reading materials nearby while they swing in a smooth, relaxing motion on their very own porch.

Garden Porch Q&A
Herb garden apartment - interior or terrace?
I want to start a small container garden herb (basil, chives, oregano, coriander and mint), I have a porch, but neither he nor my kitchen window gets direct sunlight (facing north), despite receiving a lot of indirect light. Would different if I choose to keep them on the windowsill or porch? Also, any suggestions / tips for growing plants in containers? I live in Los Angeles so the snow is not a problem if I choose to grow on the porch, lol. Thanks!
It should not matter, but if I were you I would duplicate the porch and the other on the windowsill a newspaper and see how well each one does. In this way you will be ahead of the game to the next growing season. Part of the joys gardening, newspaper and a little trial and error. Distinguish between perennial grasses and annual herbs. Try to avoid over-watering, but takes into account the need potted plants more irrigation, on average, give a bit of osmotic (found in your favorite garden center) every 25 days so they can feed. Make sure the holes not clogged drain and turn ever so often if left on the sill of the window because it will grow in the direction of the sun. You should be very successful with mint and basil. Easy to grow. Parsley and onions or chives evergreens in pots look good together and seem to like to grow together. This should be fun for you, I'm excited! Welcome to the wonderful world of gardening! Contessa
Porch garden .. tomatoes?
My niece just moved into a small apartment with a patio. She came from the country where his parents had a garden (Vegetables). She wants to plant tomatoes. I told him just a good-sized pot and some potting soil and buy a couple of tomato plants and stick em the pot. She thinks this is a bit "stupid" .. I do not know, but if you have limited space and no seat .. I thought it would be an acceptable idea. Any Another suggestion that might happen to her? Thanks.
Larger pots are better for tomatoes ... 5 gallons minimum of one standard tomato (and I prefer 10). Cherry tomatoes can be administered in a small saucepan.
