Tips On Buying A Ferret Hammock
Ferrets love hammocks, there's no doubt about it. All that fun clambering and swinging, not to mention being rocked to sleep. Here are a few tips on buying a ferret hammock.
Hammocks come in all shapes and sizes, from a simple fleece blanket to an adventure playground with several lounging areas as well as tubes and tunnels for fuzzy to run through.
When buying a hammock there are several places you can look. Pet stores will have a selection available, which you can take away there and then. Look for something that is machine washable and doesn't have any parts to it that can be easily bitten off and swallowed.
You can also buy online. You may find these slightly cheaper than in a pet store but bear in mind that you may have to pay for postage and you will also have to wait a few days before you get it. Bear in mind also that you have only seen an image of the hammock and only have an online description to go by so make sure you are aware of any return policy before committing yourself to the purchase.
You should also be careful of buying from auction sites such as eBay unless you are using one of the stores. Try to find out why a seller is offering this product if they have not said and ask about any damage the hammock may have, again check the return policy just in case you are not satisfied.
Hammocks are suspended inside the cage so make sure that the straps and clips which secure it are undamaged. You also want to ensure that the clips are easy for you to use. Make sure as well that the cage is in good condition and not corroded as you don't want to risk any injuries to your fuzzy.
Once the hammock is in use, you should inspect it frequently, once a week or so, to make sure it is not ripped or damaged in any way. If it is then replace it immediately. When you are inspecting it take this opportunity to wash it as well as you may find food or other things in there which will make it an unpleasant place for fuzzy to be.
If you don't want to buy a hammock but would prefer to make one then you can use something like a soft fleece blanket or even a fleece jacket that you don't intend wearing any more. Make sure that it is clean and undamaged before suspending it in the cage. If you have children then making your own ferret hammock is not only a good way of spending time with them but it can also be used to introduce them to ferret care at the same time.

My rats all these things?
In about 27 days, I have two Dumbo rats. We have already bought most of the things that are needed. Here is a list: 1. Four large plants with metal wire metal cage tray. Has wire floors, but the layer is with something. 2. Large plastic pink exercise ball to run free, plenty of ventilation. 3. Pink and green hammock. (You can chew, but only cost £ 2.34, so no matter) 4. Purple cardboard tube chewing and tooth wear. 5. plastic tube to hang sleeping, playing in six etc. food bowl that says 'Rat' in it. 7. substantially large water bottle. And that's all. We'll get some more stuff, but for now I think we'll be okay, because rats do not have yet!
Wow! Your rats will love! First of all I can say, I have two female dumbo rats called Bonnie and peanuts and I love to death! DUMBOS Women are the best rat I've saved! I love them! Cage sounds fantastic. Obviously, the rats need lots of space and is providing with what sounds like the perfect setting (if allowed out to run times). Enjoy running the ball exercise, but will have to let them run free a few times a week for them to exercise properly. It is not necessary to give free roam of the house - you can walk into a room and shut the door. Or even put in a fairly sized playground. rats just LOVE hammocks. They sleep in it, curl it, hide in it, jump it, cardboard tubes etc are some of the cheapest ways to keep a rat entertaining - enjoy chewing and will also provide a small and cozy to hide! I love the funky sound-purple! The plastic tube hanging sounds good - young love rats nooks and crannies to hide and run through the water. Any food container is good as long as you qualify for a small animal (not big) and durable and the bottle. difficult sounds great - make sure you get every day from drinking water supplies have helped! I hope. Have fun with your big rats - they really make your home life Good luck!
