How I can become a part of the background image transparent in Photoshop?

In the Photoshop class, we're trying to take a picture of a landscape Crop and ourselves. I have a beach scene with an extension hammock between two palm trees. I'm trying to get in the hammock, but I can not make it look like if I were in the hammock. I can do the hammock may not transparent? Or is there an easier way?

Take a picture of yourself, select the layer (The "background layer" should be the one), then double click to open. You can then delete everything else, besides yourself. I suggest using a layer mask instead of erasing, like you can always go wrong without having to ctrl + z. To do this click on "Add layer mask" in the bottom of the Layers palette. Using the brush, black brush to hide and to reveal white. Then copy the same layer in the beach scene and the scale and position, as needed! Hope this helps!
