You need not break the bank to enjoy the summer in the comfort of a high quality set of patio furniture. By looking around for a good deal at local patio furniture clearance sales you can take home the set of your dreams for a fraction of what it would normally go for.

There’s no need to feel bad if you see your local department store has to run a clearance sale to get rid of last year’s unsold patio furniture. Like in all areas influenced by fashion and design they must make space for the lines coming in for the new season: what this really means is that you have a great opportunity to pick up a bargain and bag a quality patio set for your backyard. This way you can afford to look at styles and materials that may otherwise be out of reach without stretching your finances beyond reason. A good quality set can indeed cost quite a lot so taking advantage of clearance sales can allow you to get the best possible quality without breaking the bank.

The first thing to look out for in a patio furniture clearance sale is teak. This beautiful, weather-resistant hard wood is usually very expensive. If you are lucky enough to spot a set you are in for a wonderful purchase: the texture and color of teak will bring the luxuries and refinement of South East Asia to your backyard, and you won’t have to worry about keeping it looking stunning for years to come as teak is one of the most durable natural materials you can buy.

Next on your ‘most wanted’ list should be wrought iron. This beautiful material is usually associated with the rich and famous with a taste for expensive European styles. Wrought iron furniture can be very ornamental and help you set out the mood for an elegant, romantic outdoors entertaining space. It exudes elegance and European sophistication, which can be yours at a reasonable price if you can spot one in a clearance sale. You can then add to the scheme with a few carefully chosen stylish accessories and you will have the perfect elegant space where to have a romantic dinner for two or a refined party with friends.

It really is that easy: buy looking for local patio furniture clearance sales you can save yourself a lot of money yet not compromise on the quality or style of the set you buy. Good quality does not have to be outrageously priced and with a bit of scouting around for the right deal you can bag yourself a bargain that ticks all the right design and quality boxes without undue pressure on your finances. You need not find yourself heavily in debt to be able to enjoy the summer in the comfort of a fabulous new set of patio furniture if you take advantage of the great deals that are available in patio furniture clearance sales.

  2. QUESTION:
What is the peak time to buy patio furniture on sale?
Preferably before or early on in the Summer season.
I'm actually looking for a certain week or cluster of weeks (if this even exists) where stores usually offer good deals on their patio sets sometime before or at the beginning of the Summer season.

    • ANSWER:
The absolute best time to get it is late summer or early fall, actually. Most stores have an abundance of summer supplies that start to go on clearance when summer is over. I've gotten things on clearance at this time for half the price they were at the beginning of summer. Buy it at the end of the season and store it for next summer.

During summer? Perhaps check out Independence day sales (4th of July). Some stores have special offers for the holiday, and it's only the second week of summer.

  3. QUESTION:
When do patio furniture sets start going on sale?
I'm worried if I buy one now they'll all cme on sale soon... if so, which month most likely? April, May, June, July is too late!

I would go online to Loew's Home Depot, etc and see what they have. But normally you get your best deals at the "end of the season" July, aug.

  7. QUESTION:
Patio Furniture Glass needs to be replaced or cleaned?
I just bought some patio furniture with a glass table top from a garage sale. On the underside of the glass is some kind of solid color, but I can't figure out what it is, and therefore, figuring out how to remove it. I tried everything I could to remove paint from glass (paint stripper, razor), with no luck, telling me that it must not be paint. Any ideas as to what it is? The edges of this 'color' have been chipped away from the edges of the glass, but I can't seem to scrape anymore off. I really don't want to have to buy new glass because it seems expensive. Any recommendations?

    • ANSWER:
If it is not paint that sounds like to me its a vinyl. Being on patio furniture its probably is not a polymer.
Get the glass out of the table and set it on edge, (not flat) up on your project table somewhere it will not get knocked off.
Obtain some acetone and try an inconspicuous corner of the surface. It may start to soften the material up where you CAN get a razor under it.

If acetone softens it up, thats good. -take the softening up process to the next level.
Obtain a quart can of M.E.K. (methyl ethyl ketone). You will be required to use eye & hand protection, and use it in a very well ventilated area.... DO NOT mix acetone & MEK.
That is really good stuff. -its an ingredient in PVC glue that melts the surface of the pipe then bonds it when it evaporates.

What do you think was going to happen if I had gone in to the bathroom with him?
I was helping a friend who was having an estate sale, there was this big fat Mexican that wanted to know the price of the bedroom set, so I went into the bedroom with him and was explaining the price of the bed, headboard, nightstand, etc., when he pulled out a wad of cash and asked me to go in the bathroom with him. His wife was outside looking at the patio furniture and it was just me and him in the room. I sort of freaked out and got out of there fast and went and hid upstairs until he and his wife left. Later I started wondering if maybe I should have gone in the bathroom with him because it was a very large wad of cash, and I could use some extra money. Just want to know what other people think about this in case it ever happens again so i'll know what to do.
    Yes, this really happened.

Why not Ebay? Best place for that type I would think. Or craigslist.com. Or you probably have an "auto swapper", "truck trader", "auto trader" publication up there. You see them for free in grocery stores, party(LCBO) stores, etc. Or, call the local Jeep dealer and ask for the used car dept and see if they might want it.

    • ANSWER:
      one yard = 36"
      one yard =3 feet

each window is 36 inches high or 36" high = 1 yard
each window is 6 feet long
one yard = 3 feet long
      So , 2 yards = 6 feet long,.

      So one window = 2 yards long (6feet) and 1 yard high(36inches).

      Therefore each window = 2 x 1yd = 2 yards = 2 square yards

      So : two windows would be 2square yards x 2 = 4 square yards

  14. QUESTION:
What do you do if you know your sister in law is doing fraud?
I just know found out that my sister in law let the cat out of the bag.
She has bought 3 million dollars worth of real estate on a single income. Her husband is a lawyer but you cant tell me hes bringing in tons of money. He hasn't worked in a year and she made him quit his lawyer job and she is a stay at home mom.
She hasnt made a house payment of almost 2 years and I was told through family she has taken a letter head from Washington Mutual and put in some story and acted she was the company and took it to 3 of the credit beuros to take off late payment digs. So she fraudulently took a letter from WaMu and did what they called "CUT & PASTE"
also I heard she did cut & paste and filed for forbearence. Which is if you qualify for financial hardship. I beleive she made her husband quit his job just so she can stay home and not pay a house payment. But she did every frauduently !
She has also ordered nice things over the internet, chandilliers, Neiman Marcus watch for ,000, the Wii, Patio furniture, clothes, wall tv's, and told her credit card she never got the items. She does this stuff allllllll the time. Even a nice hotel suite she will stay in and make a huge stink over the stupidest stuff and they will cut the bill in half. Its amazing how much she gets away with !
She also let one of the houses go for "quick sale" and she said it never went on her credit. she claims she knows someone at WaMu ! I think she did another "cut & paste" and did something frauduently with the credit companies so its not on her credit.

Is there anything I can do to get her what she deserves ? Ive been her sister in law for over 13 years and she has always thought she was better than me. She thinks driving a Mercedes and Range Rover and having 3 million worth of property is cool. Its all material and she's a cold hearted Bi.ch who is very manipulative.
Any advice to put her where she belongs. :)
Ummm NO IM NOT JELOUS ! I have nice things. I have a nice car, a Jaguar thank you ! I have a beautiful house. I pay cash for everything I have. Except the 2 cars and house. They are financed.
No I wouldnt do what she's doing in a heart beat. I beleive in morals and doing whats right. cheating, lying and steeling is not right. I wouldnt do what shes doing.

    Business mathematics help?
Martin and Gregory have opened a shop in Airdrie to build customized patio furniture. The projected selling price of a patio set will be ,000. They estimate that the table will use twenty (20) board feet of lumber at a cost of per board foot, per table for hardware, and another for custom finishing materials such as stain, varnish, or painting. Each patio set comes with four (4) chairs. Each chair will use six (6) board feet of lumber, for hardware, and for finishing materials. They estimate the labour time per table to be twenty-five (25) hours, and per chair, ten (10) hours for construction and finishing work. Martin found warehouse space that they can rent for ,300 per month including heat. Other utilities will be 5 per month. Other required costs are insurance at ,500 per year. They will pay themselves per hour (treat this as a variable cost). They will pay a sales commission (based on selling price) of 4% per complete set sold. Gregory estimates that they can build 125 sets per year.

    • ANSWER:
It may have been an accident but technically, you did leave the store with items you didn't pay for. That is shoplifting and the store was completely within their rights to have you charged. You must not have been very convincing in explaining it was an accident.

Some stores take a very hard line. It seems this one did. You can be more convincing to the judge that it was an accident and perhaps get a lighter sentence, but you are not going to win.

  20. QUESTION:
Interior Staging or Designing (What to Do)?
Is their a fundamental interior design practice, to arrange walls and or furniture so that you have a direct path to the back door from the front door? In this I mean, no path through the living area or kitchen area.

Would you semi squeeze the living furniture arrangement to enhance the pathway around the back of the furniture, when you could walk between the furniture or go through the kitchen.

This is only important if you intend to, come in the front and with out stopping, go out the back.

I am confused with a recent professional stagers' suggestions for a residence that is listed for sale. They are focusing on the view out the back. Their is windows near the patio door that views out, to the rear landscaping and decorated patios. They want buyers to be drawn to look at that. And we do have nice furniture and hardwood floors. The possible eye sore could be the TV. It is not a Thin Flat Screen.

    Any input is appreciated.

    • ANSWER:
You might need a new stager.
The purpose of staging is to arrange a home to look welcoming and be set up neatly, overall appealing to sell, but working with the layout of the home, and not trying to change it. If the stager is trying to direct your view to an area that makes your design feel confusing, or disconnected, then your stager is not a good one, and you need to contact the company your stager works for to ask for a different one...one that can see the layout and work with that creating a natural flow throughout. You need to see the view, but not to want to rush through the house to it without wanting to enjoy the rooms in the home. The home is important...the view a bonus.

  21. QUESTION:
Any other stay at home moms feel guilty at times for giving up your income to take care of your family?
1st off..I LOVE being home with my 5 month old son everyday & taking care of him & my husband!!

At times I do feel guilty for not working (I know mommyhood is a ft job though lol). Here's some history:
I was supported by my gma 100% til I was 19 when she remet her highschool sweetie & decided to marry him & gave me 2 wks notice to get a ft job & my own apartment. I lived in a 1 room efficiency & worked in sales & waited tables for about 5 years....I struggled but I was extremely independent. I put off school to work & pay my bills (I got 1 semester in..ugh!) So I feel like a failure there..even though I still plan to finish 1 day.....Then I met my husband right before I got into apt leasing, where I worked for about 1.5 yrs.
When we found out we were prego, we decided I'd continue to work throughout my pregnancy/or until I paid off my credit cards (he'd take a car payment but no credit debt! LOL)..so I got to quit my job at almost 7.5 months to stay home & rest before the baby came.
As I was driving 50 miles each way to & from work everyday...and with the price of gas..I was extremely grateful that I was able to do that.

After our son was born we made the decision that I'd stay home with our boy instead of returning to work. Mostly because the benefit of raising our son ourselves would be better than basically paying & working to be away from him...we'd break even. (ie: the cost of gas, daycare lunches, etc/....would be my paycheck). We plan on having 1 more child, hopefully a girl in another year or so..my husband said I can stay home til they're both in school...then work pt after if I want.

My husband has a really good job in which he gets to work from home 75% of the time & travel about once a month for about a week. He made just over 6 figures last year with his salary, bonus, stocks, etc... so we really dont want for much...we're super lucky to be such a young new family & have so much (mostly due to him lol)..new house, 2 cars, nice things..furniture...etc..
Now we don't "need" what I made (he made that just from his bonus & stocks) for monthly expenses....it would be nice to add the patio, pool, redo the kitchen but its not necessary to survive yknow?

Anywho...do any of you other mommas feel guilty being so dependent on your signficant others? Regardless if its yours, his or both your money...its still strange when you go from contributing to the family to not contributing...I feel guilty buying an outfit or getting my hair done. He told me to just put everything on the card when I grocery shop, shop for me, etc....

I'm just so confused...and I feel like I'm not contributing to our family. I was raised by workaholic & not involved woman/moms so I know the value of my being here to raise my son & I dont regret my decision one bit.....its just hard to swallow I guess.

Plus I dont know what I'm gonna do for his birthday...or Christmas...or our Anniversary....it feels SO WEIRD & not right to buy him a gift using the money he gave me or to put it on our credit card (all mine are closed now lol). I mean I did get b-day $$$ for my b-day and I'm probably gonna use most of that to get him a gift (he REALLY wants a PS3) but still...everyone who gave me that said it was for me to get something special for me (so much for that new laptop lol).

Anyways...I think I'm done rambling =) thank you all for your advice I really appreciate it!!

    • ANSWER:
With the cost of gas and daycare, it's probably more cost efficient to stay at home with your son. As a stay-at-home mom, you are not only providing an environment that is benificial emotionally for the family (I mean, who else is going to stay home with your son if he gets sick, or who else is going to go to his school events that happen during the day?), but you are also lowering the debts that could occur should you work.
Traveling less is putting less stress on your car, which means that your car will last longer.
A great job to work towards is a teacher- except for the occassional teacher-work-day, you get the same holidays off as your children, and work pretty much the same schedule as your children. If you don't have your bachelor's, you could work part-time as a substitute teacher, a cafeteria worker, or you could get certified to be a paraprofessional/teacher's "helper". Most universities offer online courses now, so with internet access, you could easily finish your degree. Also, don't underestimate the CLEP exams; if you are knowledgable about a subject, you can "CLEP it out", and get credit so you can hurry with your degree. Take one or two classes each semester online, so that when you are staying at home, you can work slowly towards your degree. Scholarships are available to people getting degrees in certain areas, and educational loans that do not have to begin to be paid back until after you graduate are available too.
Hang in there, and don't feel guilty for doing what is best for your family!

  22. QUESTION:
Community places in NJ that need help painting/decorating?
I was thinking I could help fix up a place in need of fixing up (like painting some rooms, providing new furniture, or just fixing things around) because I am starting my Gold Award project for Girl Scouts soon. I live in NJ by the way, somewhere in or near Hunterdon County would be ideal. And the place wouldn't be somebody's house, it would be like a nursing home, community center (or I know of a women's center but idk where it is), library, something like that. Someplace that the community uses. I would have fund raisers/bake sales to raise the money I'd need to re-do the room(s). I am interested in interior decorating, so that is why I am asking about fixing up a room and re-furnishing it.
Also, I am interested in updating gardens, fixing up patios and fire pit areas, etc.
If anybody knows, PLEASE answer!!! Or if anybody knows how I can find a place in need of fixing up, please tell me (like a website that I can find places near me)!!!!

    Thanks to anybody who answers!!!

    • ANSWER:
Either ask your leader to help, or sit down with a phone book and start calling.

Ministers or priests may know of some, the Y, etc.

I doubt anywhere will let you do the entire room, but a few projects here and there would be gratefully welcomed.

    • ANSWER:
Painting or decorating isn't something that's going to earn you a Girl Scout gold award. It's a nice gesture though, and if you still want to do it, you will need to pound the pavement -- you aren't going to find a place that needs this service via email. You need to identify nonprofits in your geographic area and walk into them and ask to speak to someone in charge and tell the your idea. If you are lucky enough to find a place willing to let you do this (it took me six months to find such when I had a group that wanted to do this, contacting probably 50 different nonprofits -- we ended up fixing up one room of a family shelter), give yourself a timeframe to get this done -- don't say that you will paint as soon as you raise the funds for the materials, but rather, that you will do it in the month of so-and-so, and then shoot for that deadline.

One suggestion: rather than looking for a place that *needs* a re do, consider proposing an idea for a re do. For instance, at the senior apartment center where my grandparents live, one of the meeting rooms was re-painted with the colors and logo of the beloved university team that *everyone* follows in the area, and has become the sports viewing room. It didn't *need* to be done, but the residents love it.
