What should I do with this two-seater sofa that was delivered damaged?

I hired a maintenance staff (found on craigslist.org) to collect and deliver a sofa (loveseat little small) of a consignment shop about 40 minutes. He returned to the couch saying he had fallen from his truck and had, as a result, 8 holes. He took the arm of the covers and goes to find a patch upholsterer. I called around and all the upholsterer said no it would be patched and would be better to have it upholstered. This guy has some of my furniture (a small table) the staining, but has not stayed in touch and I returned calls. I only spoke with her mother on the phone. I'm thinking that you want out of their responsibility for the loveseat repaired or give me the money ($ 310) I paid for it. What should I do?
