I have an octagon shaped area in my deck I'd like to fill any suggestions?

I believe a hot tub was once there and I want it filled in so I can put a outdoor table/chair set in that spot.

Depending on how high off the ground it is, the hole sounds like a perfect place to plant a large tree and build an 8 sided bench around the outside. This way the tree grows in the middle and you sit under the shade on the benches

how to stop the cat from making the table her bed?

hey guys,

we bought this high outdoor setting a few wks ago and my beautiful cat keeps jumping up on the chairs and the table. my mum specifiicaly doesn't want her on the table and not really on the chairs either. we have another table that is her's cause its old and crappy, but how do we stop her from getting on teh table. if we put a sheet over it, she can still climb under the sheet and up!
please help!!

It would be a good idea to find ways to encourage her to use her own table. You can reward her with food treats when she automatically goes to the old table instead of the new one. You could also spray it or rub it with catnip. (If she's not interested in catnip, try Honeysuckle spray instead.) If she likes being brushed, do that whenever she sits on the old table. Try to make all her associations with that table good ones, so that she naturally begins to prefer it to the new one.

It might just be the novelty value of the new table that's attracting her, or perhaps there's something about it's location. Does it have a better view than the old one? Is it in a sunnier/cooler spot? These are possible reasons why she wants to sit on it. If you can remove the attraction, you will lessen her interest in it.
