Style White Canopy Q&A
Ideas on how to decorate my small studio apartment?
I'm trying to go with a modern contemporary look with a pop of color and black and white artwork. My canopy style daybed will function as a couch and my bed and has a cabana feel with it's own canopy(white) from zgallerie.
My ultimate theme is old fashioned couture so I want rich colors and all my artwork is of old fashion icons and actresses. My major problem is that we're not aloud to paint the walls so i was thinking about putting fabric up to cover them and I also heard of fabric coverings or something that make fabric stick to the walls. My bed is black and the canopy is white so I need a color scheme to go with that. All ideas are welcome.
Get some red flat sheet or any color you like:
For an 8' wall-
Full flat will cover 6'9"
Queen flat- 8' 6"
King flat-9'
Dip the sheet in liquid starch and apply to the wall using map pins or a stapler to hold the top up until it dries. You might want to purchase a wallpaper smoothing brush from home depot or lowes. When you want to remove it just spray with hot water and peel the sheet off. Wipe the walls down with soapy water followed by some white vinegar and water in a spray bottle.
What are some nice accent colors for a deep red brick house?
I am buying a modest split entry house and it requires alot of exterior cosmetics. Currently it has a deep dark red brick with the same color mortar (like a barn red) on the front exterior. The sides and back of the home are pale grey vinal siding and is a little worn and cracked. The shutters are black. The front door is white and the shingles are like a grey/taupe color. The tiny front step is grey. Talk about a mix match! I'm trying to think of some nice accent colors or how to fix this mess. I thought.....make the whole house brick barn red like the front - maybe give it some taupe contrast mortar. Give it an arched wooden door in some sort tan/brown color. Bring out a little arched canopy over the door and give it two pillar accents in a cream shade and accent the shutters in vintage style with cream shade as well...and the step in brown/cream? Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated as I'm not quite sure with such a dark and bland brick.
I agree with M S. You've made the best choice on your own.
Your ideas would make your house much more inviting and give visual order to its overall appearance.
