Shade Sail Shades
The importance and need of shades can be traced back to the time of Ancient Egypt. Though proper umbrellas had not been in vogue at that time, a covering made out of fine cloth or head gears provided the much needed protection from the sun for the royalty. In those days, huge colourful cloths were used to keep the sun out if any gathering was held in the open. The trend was continued by Roman sailors who used huge canvas sails as sun shades. Though the idea and the purpose remains the same, shade sail shades these days provide health benefits too. The variety of shade sails available as well as the shapes, colours and quality of cloths used for making the shades are impressive.
Shade sail shades, also called Australian shade sails due to their origin in Australia and South Africa in the 1990s, are just perfect for all types of activities planned outdoors. Though the use was restricted in earlier times, the invention of durable and eco-friendly shade cloth has widened its areas of application. The innovation, however, is not restricted to only the variety of shade cloths but also to the shade structures that are manufactured by sail shades companies in the UK. The need for sun shades in recent times can also be attributed to the growing temperature, heat waves and climatic changes, which are growing concerns for people all over the world.
For this reason, most of the companies in the UK dealing in shade sail shades have started using UV inhibitors or UV protection guards on their shade sails. Apart from the longevity factor, these shade sails are now helpful in protecting you from the harmful effects of the sun. Installing a shade sail is also easy as most of them are do-it-yourself (DIY) in nature. Even if they are permanently fixed to brick or wooden structures, a shade sail shade can tolerate high temperature and can be left out for nearly 10 months at a stretch.
The success behind a good sail shade, however, lies in the shade cloth used in making it. 'Knitted fabric' as most of the dealers refer to it, is what makes a good quality shade sail. Apart from being light, a superior quality shade cloth has the ability to stretch but not break. This is an essential characteristic to make the perfect cuts and designs of shade sail shades. Though expensive variants are available, the low cost and the essential feature of keeping the temperatures down has made shade cloth the most popular material for shade sails.
A host of other advantages have also contributed to its popularity. For example, a shade sail shade can be maintained at practically no extra costs. You can wash it down regularly as you give your car a wash. Sail shades also take up less place for storage. They also make great style statements adding a special touch to your home. Shade sail shades, other than their utility purposes, are great for adding colour to an event hosted in the garden or by the pool. As a part of design strategies, shade sail designers go an extra step by using multiple shade sails to create a layered feeling. Triangular shade sails or the customary square ones are great for children's playgrounds, driveways, car parks and restaurants.

Triangle Sun Shade Q&A
Who knows how to shape a garden?
My house is a small older home that looks like a triangle roof, with 2 windows and an empty space between them, I'd like to put in a garden, but need advice on shape of the bed and height of plants/shrubs etc....it gets full sun until about 1-2pm, then shade from the house. Any ideas?? I like low maintenance, but don't like cedar trees, evergreen trees etc. I'm in Canada too.
The bed can be any shape, but since you like low mainenance why not just make it like a half moon if you are doing it from the wall out. If you are putting it in the center of the garden then either a square, a recitangle or a round shape.
A couple of large leaf rhodendron (they take sun and shade), smaller azalea bushes, hydrangea.
Flowers: most flowers will grow in those conditions. Columbine, daffodils (there are many different varieties), Ground cover you can put myrtle (litle blue flowers, creeping phlox, vinca). There are little roses called carpet roses that can be used as a border. Let me know if you need to know how to care for these, they are very low maintenance. Also, have you decided where the bed is going to be?
