Vintage Metal Q&A
Anyone want to buy my 10 years of collecting die cast metal cars, espicially vintage collection?
I could buy and add my 10 years of metal casting to the attention of collection. Does your collection covers the same decade that the mine from 1987 to 1997? How many cars do you have? How are looking to get?
Painting metal figurines vintage acrylic, use a primer?
I'll paint some statues of vintage metal with acrylic paint. Some of them are a little rusty, however, and I worry that the rust may show through, or you can not paste. Any help or suggestions? I'm buying all my stuff from Michael's.
Priming is always a good practice. Some metals (aluminum, for example) will cast acrylic, especially if the surface is slightly by grinding grain. However, since the statues have some rust, which is probably iron or steel. For this reason I think you should get a union card a paint store (architectural coatings, not the colors of the artists). There are other alkyd-based paint and primers that stick well to metal, and will accept acrylics. You will have to devote some time to remove the rust, however, or will cause problems, regardless of the paints you choose.
